Here is a little bit about us...
The birth of RCQC SOUTHWEST came about when PP Mandy
Saguin (RC New Manila Heights), PP Marie Rustia (RC Sta Mesa Heights),
Raul Himbing (Restaurateur) and Lorna Ballesteros (Travel Agent
Manager) conceived of organizing a club within the vicinity of
southwestern part of Quezon City
On August 4, 2001,
12 prospective members of RC Welcome Rotonda Club (temporary name) met
at Las Vegas Cafe with PDS Badong Viari presiding, who suggested the
name RCQC Southwest with RC San Francisco Del Monte as the mother club.
This was followed by weekly meetings every Wednesday at the same place. Pillars and illustrious men of D-3780 were invited to rotarize the members namely: PDG Pete Morales, DG Danny Reyes, PP George Howard, PDS Rudy Alonzo, PP Edi Salud, PP Butch Javier & AG Chito Nocum.
On October 10, 2001, Rotary International approved the chartering of RCQC Southwest, the 91st club of D-3780 (RI#56600) and the first club chartered under Gov. Danny Reyes. PP Mandy Saguin was elected as Charter President. Since then dedicated and service oriented Rotarians took turns in serving as presidents namely: PP Marie Rustia, PP Rene Gutierrez, CP Mandy Saguin (in place of PE Ross Agulto who took a leave of absence for health reason) and now Pres. Bim Aquino.
From its inception, the club has always distinguish itself for its outstanding club and community projects like: R.S.V.P (Reconstructive Surgery for Victims of Polio), JOB FAIR for DISABLED PERSONS, SOP (Surgical Outreach Programs), Marathon Circumcision, Project BREAST (Breast Regular Examination to Attain Successful Treatment) & ADOPT A SCHOOL (Betty Go-Belmonte Elementary School).
For humanitarian service rendered to the community, CP Mandy Saguin was awarded Rotary International highest Award 2002 Service Above Self Award, 2005 25th Huwarang Ama Award in Medicine and Allied Sciences, and 15th Jose Rizal Physician of Distinction.
Thus, began the historic adventure in service of RCQC Southwest, now under the leadership of dynamic and energetic leader Ruben "Bim" Aquino (Medicine/Traumatology), the Service President, to be succeeded by PE Benjie Santos Jr (PNP Officer).
